Inerrancy…I prefer the word ordained. The words of the patriarchs, prophets, and saints have definitely been set apart and God uses them to teach His truth. They were written and collected by men, however they were inspired by God just as the Holy Spirit inspires believers now. What makes them Scripture, it seems, is the trustworthiness and their ability to accurately display major works of God from first hand knowledge of His works throughout time.
Once upon a time a sovereign God created everything in existence. He made man out of His own image and breathed the breath of life into him.
Man betrayed God through selfishness and pride that continues to the present generation. We are content and sure in our own way. We have ruined our purity and our fellowship with God.
But God loves us and desires that fellowship with us so much that He has initiated a new relationship. He has reached out to us by calling out the Israelite people for His own, by revealing His majesty and justice to us in the Mosaic Law, by sending judges and prophets to speak His words, and ultimately by sending His Son, Jesus Christ, the anointed One to make the final sacrifice of atonement for our infirmities.
Jesus proved Himself to be God’s Son, the perfect representation of God the Father, who died a criminal’s death and three days later was raised to life to be the first-fruits of those who had fallen asleep. Resurrection and eternal life is offered to all those who receive Him. He lives and works in believers through His counselor the Holy Spirit who guides us in truth and righteousness. And Jesus is returning soon in His glory to take home the redeemed and fulfill His justice here on earth. Then God will create a new heaven and a new earth and Jesus will reign forever and we will live happily ever after.
